Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between body mass index, physical activity level and quality of life with variables such as age, marital status and occupation year of 227 firefighters working in Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality. The survey method was used as a research method to measure and question the current situation. The internationally accepted Body Weight (kg) / Length (m) ² formula was used to determine the body mass index of the employees. Physical activity level was measured by IPAQ (international physical activity measurement questionnaire) long form and quality of life by SF-36 (short form-36) questionnaire. SPSS 20.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences 20.0) program was used for data analysis and significance level (p <.05) was used during the analyses. As a result of the analysis; it was seen that physical function, energy and vitality level, mental health score, general health perception and social functioning decreased with increasing body mass index. It was seen that physical activity level decreased in participants with high body mass index. It was found that mental health, pain and general health perception scores decreased with the increase in the professional year. As the education level increases, it is seen that physical activity level including housework and rest, sports and leisure activity level increases and also social functionality too. As the age of the participant staff increases, it is seen that the physical activity related to work decreases. In addition, depending on age, energy, mental health and general health perception decreased while sitting time and pain increased.
