Abstract (EN)
İzmirli İsmail Hakkı's curiosty towards science and thinking started in his child hood and continued through his entire life. In addition to his education in madrasah he took private lessons. He learned a lot of foreign languages through his own effort. İzmirli İsmail Hakkı saw metaphysic as the highest knowledge of wisdom, first and eternal reasons. According to him, while the other sciences are dealing with events and the relationship between them, metaphysics tries to put forth a systematic and totalitarian view considering the first reasons and their relationship between them. It is possible to collect his understanding of metaphysics in three main topics: knowledge, existence and God. He thinks that knowledge can be known through not only reason and senses but also heart and conscience. İzmirli says that whether the thoughts about God are appropriate to reality or not can be only proved through the evidences about God's existence. To prove God's existence, he used proofs of both Muslim philosophers and western philosophers. According to him, in search of truth there are mainly two ways; first Religious way second Philosophic way. He thinks that religious way is more steady, reliable and efficient than philosophic one. İzmirli, sorts out the evil in to three parts; Metaphysic evil, Spiritual evil and Physical evil. He says that Allah is the creator of both goodness and evil.
