Diastolic disfunction and cycstatin c

Backgraound:In the past, heart failure was used as synonym of systolic dysfunction. Recently, another type of cardiac dysfunction, which is relatively infrequent and requires different therapeutic and diagnostic approaches, became popular: diastolic dysfunction or diastolic heart faılure. In this study, we try to present the asociatoion between the serum cystatin C levels and diastolicproperties of heart.Methods :We evaluate serum cystatin C consantrations associated with diastolic dysfunction among 88 person who were free of other clinic diagnosis.we evoluated the diastolic parameters with 2Dechocardiography , TDI and PW doppler mesuraments.The 88 study participants were categorized into three groups normal ,grade 1 and grade 2. We made cystatistical analysis in each groups and parameters.Result : Diastolic difunction was corelated with serum glucose , total cholestrol, creatinin, blood urine and Cystatin C consetrations.Glucose (R:0,254,P=0,017) total cholesterol ( R:0,238,P=0,026) , Creatinin ( R:0,247,P=0,02) ,K (R:0,292,P=0,006), Üre (R:0,458, P<0,0001), Cystatin C ( R:0,482,P<0,0001) P ( R:0,357,P=0,01) . The most powerfull association was with Cystatin c and blood urine levels and it is cystaticaly significant. We made ROC analysisto find the cut off ratio of Cystatin C for diastolic disfunction .And we find that the cut off ratio for Cystatin C was 0,997 ng/ml .On this point Cystatin c was % 80 specific and % 78.95 sensitive for diastolic disfunction.Key Words: Diastolic heart failure, Cystatin C, Echocardiography,
