Evaluation of moral education in the thoughts of J. J. Rousseau and I. Kant

It is only through education and morality that the individual realizes his / her self, builds his / her personality, sustains his / her existence in society as a social entity, and thus makes sense of his / her existence. In our rapidly changing world, very important duties upon morality, education and philosophy. While these areas have a surrounding effect, they create the efforts of man that give for herself /himself on Earth and enable the individual to lead a virtuous life. The human need for education continues in all ages. The main purpose of our work is to evaluate the thoughts of moral education of two philosophers, namely Rousseau and Kant. Rousseau offers distinctive methods as a contra-enlightenment thinker, who has made a great contribution to the field of pedagogy, by separating human, nature from child phenomena/pedagogy. Rousseau treats the individual with education and morality without deteriorating naturalness and develops the theory of applied education and offers ways to study morality. Kant is an important philosopher who has had an impact, especially with his moral ideas during his time. By departing from Kant's moral ideas, it is possible to reach his thoughts on education. Child and adult education constitutes the center of his thoughts of moral education. From the first infancy, factors such as child care, supervision, physical, cultural development, morality and religious education are the focus of Kant's moral education. So after evaluating the thoughts of morality and education, in the dissertation, mainly and comparatively the thoughts of moral education of Rousseau and Kant will be focused on. With moral education, the individual will have the power to enact himself by building his personality, ensuring an accurate understanding of values. The consciousness of justice and freedom, the ideal order of society will only be achieved through the right moral education. The aim of moral education is to enable individuals to take action with healthy thinking and to keep the individual and society away from bad morals and behaviour. By making a distinction between good and bad, questions such as how to maintain life, how to make sense of life constitutes the subject of moral education will be uncovered. The answers to these questions are important in Rousseau and Kant's thoughts of moral education, which are also basically the subject of our work.
