Analysis, classification and evaluation of Kadın (İstanbul) Newspaper (1911/1912)

This study scrutinizes one of the femde oriented newspaper of the Ottoman Empire namely kadınlar published during the Tanzimat and Constitutional reform perinds wew short lived and interrupted from time to time. The studied Kadın (İstanbul) Newspaper started its broadcasting life in 1911 and a sum of 16 usves emitted until 1912. The second Constitutionalist period, is one of the most important stages of turkish modernization. This period, which was a milestone in the history of Turkish democracy started to make their voices heard through the foundations they established and the newspapers, magazines they published.on behalf of showing themselves in cominity life. They have been works on association, working and broadcast life. Womens magazines published in Second Constitonalist period served as an important tool for women to express themselves. Kadın (İstanbul) Newspaper published many works (poem, prose, riddle, apothegm, proverb, memorandums, advertisement, medical knowedges, serial novel vs. ) of both men and female authors. The status and womwn in sociel life, arranged marriages, the roles of men and womwn in family life have been some of the issves dealt with in writing of different genres. Kadın (İstanbul) Newspaper, wich advacated taht women in Europe and had a voice in society, carries the traces of the westernization movement with the womens photographs in the newspaper.
