Abstract (EN)

Migration has become a social concept, which takes place in all the experiential processes of the society's past and present, and which is revealed by cultural, economic, social, social and political reasons. Individuals may prefer this social activity due to many factors. It is very important for societies or individuals to feel a sense of belonging to the place and culture they migrate to. This affects the permanence and quality of migration. Belonging can be in question for many situations and events. Gastonomy belonging is one of them. Individuals adopting the cuisine of the country they migrated to and feeling a sense of belonging increase the quality of their lives. Because gastronomy is not just an act of eating and drinking. It is a cultural transmission. The gastronomic sense of belonging of people of Turkish origin who immigrated to Canada was examined in this study. Based on the international literature in the field of gastronomic belonging, there has been less research in the domestic literature and this study has been needed to make up for this deficiency in the domestic literature. In this context, it is aimed to understand and feel the gastronomic sense of belonging of Turks who immigrated to Canada for various reasons. For the research data in the context of the qualitative research method, observations were made in Canada for approximately five months between 31 July 2021 and 20 January 2022, and Turkish immigrants living in Canada were met. Interviews were held with Turks living in Canada and 12 participants were reached. Research data were collected through a semi-structured interview form created by the researcher. People between the ages of 24 and 60 were included in the study, and people in the age range to make comparisons and inferences about both the past and the present. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the participants mostly longed for Turkish food, the local dishes they made and ate in Canada did not give the same taste and feeling as the dishes made in Turkey, and this could be due to climatic reasons and ingredients.
