'Dreams of Spirit Seer' as a turning point in the emergence of the idea of critique of pure reason in Kant

Dreams of a Spirit Seer is a part of Kant's pre-critical period and was published in 1766, contains an effective criticism of the conventional metaphysics and Emmanuel Swedenborg, the famous spirit seer of the time. In Dreams of a Sprit Seer, Kant detects serious similarities between the System of conventional metaphysics and sayings of Emmanuel Swedenborg who is a sorcerer. Metaphysicians and sorcerers built their Systems without any perception and only with notions, which caused them to be very similar with each other. There is no standart that can put those two Systems apart. Conventional metaphysics are ali about the Systems that are built this way. According to Kant, there is no difference between what a metaphysician and a sorcerer says. So what we need to do is to fınd a standart to seperate the metaphysics from the system of sorcerers. To achieve this, we fırst need to determine the limit of the human mind and then the metaphysics. Dreams of a Spirit Seer has an important part in how Kant's criticism took its shape with the results it contains. The purpose of this thesis is to show the existence of an original period as effective as skepticism of David Hume that helped Kant to develop the critique of püre reason which is the most important part of the Kant's criticism.
