The relationship between career planning and career satisfaction: a research on civil aviation sector ground services employees

Being effective in a working environment that is changing day by day, it is possible for human resources, which is a very important factor for organizations to achieve competitive advantage and sustainable success, by understanding their wishes and expectations and putting forth effective practices in this direction, and career planning is at the top of these expectations. Nowadays, individuals are more focused on how to build and develop their careers; along with their work in this direction, they also need the help of organizations. An accurate and effective career planning process affects many variables and also affects career satisfaction. In this context, the study aims to determine the relationship between career planning and career satisfaction in civil aviation sector ground services employees. The research was carried out with 401 participants working in ground services companies operating in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. Convenience sampling method was used to determine the participants, and the survey method was used to collect the data. The data were processed and analyzed with the SPSS program. In the research, results were obtained partially supporting that individual career planning has a positive and significant effect on career satisfaction. It has been determined that organizational career planning has a positive and significant effect on career satisfaction. It is thought that the study will contribute to sector managers, employees and researchers interested in the subject in terms of recognizing the relationship between the related variables and creating effective strategies and practices in this direction.
