Narratives about the Armenian issue in Kars province

Armenian Issue is a political problem that has preoccupied the Republic of Turkey for nearly a century. Although this problem is of a historical nature, it remains up to date. The Armenian Issue also sets the agenda in international relations and policies at certain periods. A large number of studies have been carried out in different disciplines to resolve the historical event. All these disciplines offer a different perspective. Folklore, which is related to other disciplines in different ways, can provide the opportunity to look at the Armenian issue from a different windows by providing resources to sciences such as history, psychology and sociology with folk literature products. This study is based on the review of the narratives about the Armenian issue by conducting a determination and classification through field research and literature survey. The aim is to collect and analyze the folk litareture products that appeared as a result of the Armenian Issue in Kars and make them permanent in order to pass them on to the next generations. Additionally, this study touches on a political, national and social event. With this feature, it is related to oral history and offers different perspectives in terms of contributing to the solution or better understanding of the problem. In this study, narratives that emerged on the Armenian Issue were recorded under the light of informations obtained from the methods of observation, interview and literature survey. The basic concepts towards the subject of the study are explained in the prologue. In the first part, the prose narratives determined on the Armenian Issue in Kars are examined. Examination and determination of verse narratives takes places in the second part. In the third part, the common elements of the narratives are determined and gone under an evaluation.
