An examination of Ibn Kutluboga's Tashîhu'l-Kudûrî in terms of its method and content (Sample of worship part)

This thesis aims to analyse Kâsım b. Kutluboga's book called "et-Tashîh ve't-Tercîh 'ale'l-Muhtasari'l-Kudûrî". et-Tashîh ve't-Tercîh 'ale'l-Muhtasari'l-Kudûrî is about Kuduri's el-muhtasar, which is one of the most fundamental source of Hanafi sect, in terms of its method and content. By means of this work Kâsım b. Kutluboga intends to mention most significant ideas of Hanafi sect. The thesis consists of introduction part and three main parts. In introduction part, the necessity of this research is explained and the thesis is clarified in a detailed way. In order to envisage the topic a short history of Hanafi sect, Abu Hanifa's range of education, formation of the sect, leaders of Hanafi sect, grades of Islamic law scholars and levels of Islamic law books in terms of their importance, Hanafi sect's crucial texts, the importance of el-muhtasar for the sect, studies and books which explain the book in a very detailed way on el- muhtasar and a biography of the author of the book Abul Hussaın Ahmed el Kuduri are presented in the thesis. In the first part the information about Kâsım b. Kutluboga's life is presented. Kâsım b. Kutluboga's era's political, cultural and educational conditions his lecturers, students and books are examined. In the second part, "et-Tashîh ve't-Tercîh 'ale'l-Muhtasari'l-Kudûrî" is studied in terms of its method. Importance of the book, the method that is followed by the author, other names of the book, publishing date of the book, cursive samples of the book, studies about the book and the author, resources which are used by the author for worship parts are examined and explained. In the third part, the content of the book is inspected. The introduction part of Tashih is translated and the ideas of Kâsım b. Kutluboga especially about purity part are clarified. El-Hidâye, Feth-u Bâbi'l-'İnâye, Fethu'l-Kadîr and other subtopic Islamic law books are used to express the ideas. By this way, significance of "et-Tashîh ve't-Tercîh 'ale'l-Muhtasari'l-Kudûrî", systematics of the book and Kâsım b. Kutluboga's scholarly attitudes are introduced. It can be claimed that this thesis is important as it scrutinize Kâsım b. Kutluboga's life and introduce "et-Tashîh ve't-Tercîh 'ale'l-Muhtasari'l-Kudûrî" which is a short interpretation of el-muhtasar and a source for the posterior books, studies.
