Abstract (EN)

The molecular detection of haemolysin in biofilm-producing Proteus mirabilis from catheterized patients is crucial in clinical microbiology. P. mirabilis, a common cause of catheter-associated urinary tract infections, owes its virulence to biofilm formation and haemolysin production. Biofilms enhance bacterial persistence to immune responses and antibiotics, complicating infection management. Understanding haemolysin production in P. mirabilis can inform targeted therapies, improving patient outcomes. A total of two hundred clinical samples were included in this study. The results revealed the isolation of 82 bactertial isolates. After identification the results revealed that 31 P. mirabilis isolates were isolated from catheterized paitents. Theses P. mirabilis were found to be biofilm, urease and haemolysin producers. Genetic detection of haemolysin coding gene hpmA was done and the results revealed that 27/31 isolates (87.09%) carried hpmA gene. These findings highlight P. mirabilis virulence and suggest that targeting haemolysin production could enhance therapeutic strategies and patient outcomes in catheter-associated urinary tract infection management
