Abstract (EN)
The city has been the center of social and cultural life throughout the history of humanity, which has settled, and many concepts such as economy, politics, religion, culture, and art have been shaped as urban-centered. The city for the artist; can be considered as both a place where he can perform his art and share with his audience, and inspiration that causes artistic production. It can also be considered historical, natural riches, changing socio-cultural features, and art itself with its multi-layered structure that is in constant motion. Throughout the history of art, many artists have been influenced by this variable structure of the city and have included the city image in their works. With industrialization, the importance of cities has increased even more and the image of the city in visual arts has begun to be the subject of art directly as well as indirectly. With the postmodern breaks that occurred in the material and representation of art after 1960, there were also changes in the depiction of the city image in the visual arts. After this period when the perception of art questioned altogether, while 'idea' became the most important art, the urban space emerged as a narrative in its own right. While the postmodern thinking system plays an active role in shaping art after 60, the deconstruction method, which is a poststructuralist approach and holds an important role in postmodern thinking system, has also become a method used in contemporary art in practice today. The research carried out on the artists who dealt with the urban image with the deconstruction method in contemporary art practices, and focused on the depictions of the city image in visual arts while planning this study.
