Abstract (EN)

The industrialization of cities and the use of manpower caused an increase in immigration to cities. Conditions such as migration, natural disasters and war show that the life activities of cities are disrupted over time. Economic, social and physical changes occurring in cities affect living spaces. The concept of urban transformation emerged as a result of the disruption of social life and was applied all over the world, especially in Europe. While the concept of urban transformation was applied in European countries years ago, the shortcomings and legal aspects of this practice are still being discussed in our country. Investigation of living standards in the regions where the application will be made should be taken into consideration by applying infrastructure, education, innovative approach, social, economic and environmental factors. Rights holders in the region, NGOs, local governments and public institutions should be together to take part in the transformation process. The city wall of Diyarbakır is one of the important regions where urban transformation has been implemented in recent years. After the terrorist incidents, the neighborhoods in the region were evacuated for life safety. After the region has been completely cleaned, it is aimed to restore the damaged houses and historical structures to the society life. By examining the effect of the transformation on historical places, the current situation in the studies will be evaluated and discussed. All steps of urban transformation application in our country will be examined.
