Karrāmi ascetic movement

Karrāmiyya is a sufi class and denomination that expedited its dissemination around Khorasan area of Islam with the third century of Hegira. Meanwhile it had the opportunity of conveying its teachings to many people. In this period, Karrāmiyya developed the view of tahrīmu'l-makāsib the notion of anti-treasure up, as a reaction to trade structure of its area and they embraced tawakkul as life style. They pioneered the construction and dissemination of hanegāh in region of Khorasan on the grounds of being inclined to sermons and worship. Karrāmiyya who contends with Shī'a is essentially named as ahl al-Sunnah. However, because of their thoughts on faith, some of the authors of Ash'arīta and Māturīdī have seen them as ahl al-bid'a and some others have seen them as sub-branch of the groups of Murji'a, Mushabbiha or Mujassima. Later on, these refutations and political elements caused Karrāmiyya to lose its reputation, leaded the sect to be disregarded in sūfī sense and leaded their names to not ranked in some of tabaqāh works. Therefore, the sect of Karrāmiyya put forward in the tradition of faith (ītiqād) and fırāq rather than its sūfism identity. The disregard of this side of Karrāmī zuhd movement as of the beginning, motivated us for this work.
