Investigation of the predictive effects of personality traits, need for affect and social and emotional loneliness on emotion expression

The main purpose of this study is to express emotion; personality traits, emotional needs, and social and emotional loneliness. In this context, first of all, the differentiation of all the variables according to the demographic variables was examined. Then, the effects of personality, need for affect and social and emotional loneliness on the level of emotion expression were examined. The sample of the study consistsed of 406 university students. The data of the study were obtained by using the Personal Information Form, the Big Five Inventory, the Emotion Expression Scale, the Need for Affect Scale, and the Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale for Adults. In the data collection process, the forms were sent to the volunteer participants through online channels, The forms were sent to the volunteer participants through online channels in the data collection process since the education and training activities were carried out remotely. SPSS.26 package program was used in the analysis of the data. Independent samples t-Test, one-way ANOVA analysis, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression analyzes were performed to find answers to the research problems. As a result of the analyzes made, it was foundResults showed that the expression of emotion differed according to gender, relationship status, and having a diary/memoir/diary. According to the regression analysis, personality traits, need for emotion, and social and emotional loneliness significantly predicted emotion expression. The present results wereare discussed in the light of the literature. Suggestions Recommendations are were presented for practitioners and future researchers.
