Abstract (EN)

Course books and the texts in such books are an important part of the educational process of all students. From this point of view, it is necessary to act responsibly towards selection of the texts in the course books. The Turkish course and the Turkish course book, which allow the students to develop their knowledge on Turkish, are considered very important for teaching their native language. In addition to correct transfer of the Turkish language, the texts included in the Turkish course book should also be suitable for children and children's literature. In the study conducted by the method of document analysis, it has been examined whether the texts in the TRNC- Turkish course book published in 2018 are suitable for children's literature in terms of form and content. The study has been limited only to 48 reading texts. These texts have been evaluated one by one within the scope of form and content characteristics of children's literature. As a result of our study, it has been found that the texts are mostly suitable for the characteristics of children's literature. However, some texts include spelling and punctuation errors, visual content inconsistencies, and various expressions such as violence and death that may set a negative example for children. As a result, it has been concluded that the TRNC- Fifth Class Turkish course book is generally suitable for children's literature in terms of form and content, but it should be more attentive and errorless.
