A treatise belonging to Koçu Baba Ocağı (Transcription text-analysis-facsimile)

Koçu Baba Ocağı, one of the Alevi-Bektashi Ocaks in Anatolia, dates back to the 19th century. A manuscript given as a gift in the 19th century constitutes the main subject of our study. In the first part of the thesis, after explaining the purpose, scope and method of the research, we provide preliminary information about Alevism, Bektashism and Qizilbashism, and also provide information about Alevi ocaks and Koçu Baba Ocağı. In addition to the many descriptions about Koçu Baba in the oral tradition and historical process, there are also records from the information in the inscription in front of his tomb that he is the son of Haci Bektas Veli's uncle as Seyit Hasan Gazi and that he is the father of Abdal Musa and Mehemmed Abdal. As an ocak affiliated with the Haci Bektas Veli Dervish Lodge, it is known that the grandfathers from the Koçu Baba lineage have performed cem worship with their disciples in various regions of Anatolia from past to present. In this respect, Koçu Baba Ocağı has characteristics that are also known in Alevi-Bektashi Ocaks research in terms of its saint cult characteristics as an ocak, its postnishins being seyyids and its suitors. Muhammed Hamdullah Celebi, the author of the work entrusted to this ocak as a souvenir, is one of the Haci Bektas Veli Celebis. For this reason, we tried to provide information in our research about the historical personality of Hamdullah Celebi, the author of the work. During our research, mutual examination of historical data and archive documents is extremely important as it will shed light on historical reality. In the second part of the thesis, we transcribed the manuscript written in Ottoman Turkish with the Latin alphabet and translated it into modern Turkish. The work, written in 1814, bears the signature of Muhammed Hamdullah Celebi, the son of Sheikh Feyzullah Efendi, who is known to have been the Postnishin of Haci Bektas Veli Dervish Lodge in 1824. In the treatise in question, the subjects of virtues and Sufism are included. The last parts of the work include Hamdullah Celebi's poems. We understand that some pages of the work are missing from the fact that the defining words at the end of the pages do not appear at the beginning of the next page and from the breaks in the context of the text. We think that the seals belong to Muhammed Hamdullah Celebi due to the phrase "Abdühü's-Seyyid Muhammed Hamdullah" on the seals on three different pages. As a matter of fact, as can be understood from its style, we have translated a work that we think is historically guiding. As a method, we have written the letters and signs of the Arabic expressions in the texts as they are, based on the principle of adherence to the text. In addition, care has been taken to present some issues that we consider important as the path information of Alevism in an explanatory manner.
