Evaluation of energy effi̇ci̇ency before and after urban transformation in residential buildings

Currently in Turkey, urban transformation is especially made for protecting the statically risky buildings. Besides, the climate change and the energy consumption problem which concern the world a genda, also concerns Turkey. Climate change and energy consumption problem should be solved at the same time. Under the name of "Urban Transformation" the buildings which are to be renewed are not only for the protection of the statical risks but also for the subject named energy efficiency in the buildings are should be studied and planned in detail. The urban transformation in Turkey could be evaluated as an opportunity for the development of energy efficiency. In this study, a field study was conducted on there is dences which completed the transformation process and the energy efficiency status of the houses before a transformation was compared with the energy efficiency situation after the transformation and the importance given to the energy efficiency in urban transformation was evaluated. In addition, the study presents some factors to be taken into consideration in energy efficient building design and suggestions about transforming existing buildings into energy efficient after urban transformation. The study includes five chapters. At the beginning of the thesis, the aim and the importance of the study, the comprehension of the study, the method and the hypothesis of the study have been reported. In the second chapter, urban transformation and energy efficiency are discussed in a conceptual framework based on the literature. In the third chapter, energy efficiency in the housing sector is explained and the laws and regulations are related to energy efficiency are explained under this title. In addition, me a sures to be taken to ensure energy efficiency in houses and energy efficient building design are explained. In the fourth part of the thesis, a field study was conducted to compare the energy efficiency of three different housing sites in Nilüfer district befor and after an urban transformation. In the conclusion chapter, in the light of thee volutions obtained from the field study, theim portance of energy in urban transformation is emphasised.
