Prof. Dr. Hatice ÇAĞATAYIn our daily life, examination of fluids and the improvement ofapplications dependent on fluids have earned importance. One of the importantthings in problems of fluid movement, convection effect is taken into consideration. In the nature, event of diffusion is come true together with convection. For thisreason new calculation methods that dealing with convection and diffusion togetherare needed. One of the calculation methods is finite volume method. In this thesis study, analysis of one dimensional convection-diffusionproblems have been maken with central differencing scheme, upwind differencingscheme, hybrid differencing scheme and power law scheme which are elements offinite volume method using different variables. To obtain the solutions of problems, algorithms bases on finite volume method principles was formed at MATLABcomputer program and the results of problems were found for different cases.Obtained results have been examinized.Key words: Convection-diffusion problems, finite volume method, MATLAB,central differencing scheme, power law schemeII
