Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to identify the wooden minbars dating to the late Ottoman period in Konya, to define their form, technique and ornamentation features, and to determine their importance in Turkish-Islamic art. Accordingly, mosques in 22 districts of Konya including Ahırlı, Akören, Akşehir, Altınekin, Beyşehir, Bozkır, Çumra, Derebucak, Doğanhisar, Güneysınır, Hadim, Hüyük, Ilgın, Kadınhanı, Karatay, Meram, Sarayönü, Selçuklu, Seydişehir, Taşkent, Tuzlukçu and Yunak were examined and 100 wooden pulpits in original condition were identified. Minbar is the name given to the pulpit where the orator reads the sermon on Fridays and feast days in mosques. The minbars, which developed in line with the needs in Islamic art, were built in accordance with the aesthetic understanding of their period, as they were accepted as a sign of sovereignty as well as being functional. In this context, they are representative of their period. However, the fact that they have not survived to the present day due to various reasons such as natural disasters or human factors over time causes the culture and art understanding of the period to disappear. For this reason, our study first aims to document the wooden pulpits and then to describe them in detail. Our study consists of two parts: "Late Ottoman Period Wooden Minbars in Konya" and "Evaluation". However, firstly, under the title of introduction, the definition, importance and limits of the subject were determined, the method used and the publications on the subject were mentioned. Then, information about the definition, development and function of the pulpit is given and pulpit elements are defined. The first chapter, "Late Ottoman Period Wooden Minbars in Konya", deals with the wooden minbars produced in a wide range between the 18th and 20th centuries. Firstly, the history and architecture of the mosque in which the minbar is located is given and then the minbar is analyzed in detail within the framework of a template created. In the second section, the data obtained from the catalog is evaluated under five headings. The evaluation consists of five titles: "The Place of the Minbar in the Building", "Minbar Elements", 'Dating', "Applied Technique" and "Ornamentation". Finally, the data obtained as a result of our study were put forward and our study was completed.
