Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Today, in order to preserve the cultural heritage buildings that have lost their original functions, they are reused with the same function or with different contemporary functions. In these re-functioning applications, the design interventions made to the original space setups of a monumental building with cultural heritage value have effective results. Within the scope of the study, which will analyze the effects of design interventions carried out in re-functioning applications for conservation purposes, on the cultural heritage value of the buildings, "Trilye Taş Mektep" has been chosen as an example of a refunctional monumental building. The data obtained by using the qualitative research method in the study; It was collected by observation, interview and document analysis, and evaluations of the building were made in the light of the information obtained. As a result of these evaluations, the interventions made during the re-functioning stages of the "Trilye Taş Mektep", a monumental building with cultural heritage value, were analyzed with the evaluation criteria, which are based on various international protection criteria determined for the preservation of the original texture. It is thought that this study will guide the future re-functioning studies in design interventions for the protection of historical buildings with cultural heritage value. Keywords: Architectural preservation, cultural heritage, monumental structure, re-functioning.
