Abstract (EN)

Having a qualified native language education a person would be the one who thinks, examines, critices, and is aware of what is going on around, sensitive to world, to the community and the environment that he/she lives in, and is creative and productive. As teaching native language is versatile, what to teach and how to teach is very important. And this brings out the question that which teaching methods should be used. Teaching Turkish language more affectively depends on knowing the teaching methods that would be used for productive native language teaching and when to use them, and being carried out truly by the teachers. The objectives of education can be provided by the way of selecting appropriate teaching methods. For this reason, not a single method for each course is used, but many different methods are used (Demirel, 1999). Some methods used in Turkish courses are: lecture, discussion, question and answer, problem solving, demonstration, teaching through research, dramatization? etc.The purpose of the study is to investigate the teachers? views about Turkish teaching methods who are serving in Kosova?s primary schools. Teachers? self evaluation on their own competence level regarding teaching methods and the well known and the most used Turkish teaching methods by the teachers are also examined in the study. This research is a simple descriptive model and limited to teachers teaching 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th grade classes in primary schools in Kosovo. In research, ready-made scale, developed by Taşkara, is used. The survey is administrated by 47 teachers in 5 region of Kosovo. In order to analyze the data percentage and frequence are used in the study. The teachers participated in the study find themselves ?inadequate? in Turkish teaching methods. It appears that in teaching Turkish ?question and answer? and ?discussion? are the most known and applied methods while ?problem solving? and ?role playing? are the less applied ones. The participants stated the most important feature of the methods used in Turkish course is that ?It should facilitate the understanding of the course.? Based on the survey result, it is proposed that providing support for teachers about teaching Turkish would be available by in -service training for them.Key words: Kosovo?s primary schools, Teaching Turkish, Turkish Teaching Methods, Methods,
