Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to determine and compare the burnout levels of school administrators who work at state schools in the rural and urban areas. The study is conducted in a descriptive way, and reflects the nature of field study. The universe of the research consists of full time 1264 schools of central province and 3317 schools of rural area school administrators who work at the state schools within Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Erzurum, Hakkâri, Malatya central province and rural area, in the education year 2007- 2008. 532 school administrators working within province center, 316 school administrators from rural area have been taken into the pattern of the research. In the research, ?Maslach Burnout İnventory? was used to get data. The five - likert-type scale consists of 9 individual variables, twenty- two items and three dimensions. The questionnaire is made up of two sections. In the first section personal information and in the second section school directors opinions on burnout take place.SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science, 13) packet programme has been used in order to analyse the statistical datas determined at the research. frequency, Percent, Arithmetic Mean, Standart Deviation, Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson Correlation, Mann-Whitney U tests have been used for the evulation of the data, the upper limit of erronous ratio has been accepted as 0.05.According to the results of research, school administrators who work in central province and rural area, have a medium level of burnout about their jobs. Emotional Exhaution (EE): ( rural = 2.53, central = 2.73). Depersonalization (D): ( rural = 1.91, central=2.15). Personel Accomplishment (PA): ( rural = 3.56, central = 3.68)According to the evaluation of data related to place of work, rural school administrators have less burnout than the school administrators in province center.Key Words: Rural Area, Urban Area, School Administrator, Burnout
