The effect of Quantum learning model on the students` success at secondary education (an experimental study in Gaziantep)

In thisstudy, volunteer students from Anatolian High Schools, Foreign Language OrientedHigh Schools and Public Schools in central Gaziantep participated in a 15 hour aquantum learning seminar. The seminer lasted 5 weekends. This is an experimentalstudy. As the research design, the experimental research with a pretest- posttestcontrol group was used. Students who participate in the seminar is regarded as theexperimental group. The other students in the same classes were selected as a controlgroups. There were 233 students in the experimental group, and 2420 students in thecontrol group. The students? first semester academic successes were regarded as theirpretest score and their second semester academic successes to be their post-testscores. Questionnaire developed by the researcher so as to determine the students selfperception and beliefs about the school, course lesson and learning Judging theresults obtained from the research indicated that the quantum learning seminar wasfound to be effective for the students in the experimental group at all kinds of schoolsparticipating in this study. The difference between the post-test of experimental andcontrol group was educationally and statistically significant. It was seen that therewere positive changes in the students? beliefs conserning related to the course, theschool and learning. As for the students? self perceptions, there was an increase intheir self confidence, responsibility and creativity. It was found out that perceivethemselves in a more positive way. The students believed that they could use theknowledge they have received in their course and their daily life.Key words; Quantum Learning, Self Confidence, Academic Success
