The competition strategies of small and medium size businesses follow: A Study about SME's in Adana

The meaning of strategy has started to being used at management field as wellas having a fruquent use in defending area. The strategies that the firms andcompanies follow had caused to being of discipline that first called Strategic Planningand then strategic Management. Nowadays, Strategic Management is one of the mostimportant searching areas in science of management .In global world today considiring the rising level of competition we couldsay the firms are rapidly remaintaining their organizational structures , systems andtheir process. There is no doubt the coming future conditions would be far moredifficult .And who realized this are the ones that started to struggle with it.The Competition Strategies and its special features which firms would followare described by doing literature work in this thesis study.At the end of this literature work an inquiry that can measure the competitionstrategies of small and medium administrations had been prepared and was applied toSMEs that are registered to Adana Sanayi Odası (Chamber of Adana Industry).The datas about inquiry work were evaluated by using SPSS programme, andthe competition strategies Adana SMEs follow were taken out. And it was understoodthat the popular strategy which firms use is the total cost according to the result ofinquiry.Also, it was found out that the strategic desicions are mostly made by the owners offirm and these desicions are usually made for the firms to get bigger.Key Words: Strategic Management, Strategy, Strategies of Competition, StrategicPlan, SME
