Adaptation in working life for adults with institutional care experience

Adaptation in Working Life for Adults with Institutional Care Experience Institutional care services are one of the most common services which provide care for children in needs of protection. After institutional care services, these negative influences required to be minimized to help adults for maintaining a healthy social, marriage and working life. Therefore, in recent years, studies related care services in families are increased and making a strong families structure gain importance for a child care in a family atmosphere. In this study, adults who are grown up by institutional care services and employed in the scope of the law no. 3413, investigated in terms of their employment way and adaptation of working life. This study is based on a qualitative method which is consisted of a phenomenological approach. Study group has been determined by snowball sampling method. The study sample is consisted of 20 adults who has been employed in the scope of the law no. 3413 and currently working in city of Siirt. Data collection has been gained by semi structured interview forms which is developed by the researcher. Moreover, Nvivo has been used for categorization and classification of the data for the analysis. Through this study, we access to the following important results; the majority of children in need of protection are taken into institutional care after parental loss, children's education is at a low level when they leave institutional care, children experienced problems during the period of separation from institutional care until employment and settlement, the training that the children got was ignored when they were employed, there are no guidance and vocational guidance activities for children when they under institutional care and children did not receive any training on adaptation before and during working life.
