Interrogative sentences in Kutadgu Bilig

A society that wants to continue its existence must protect its ancestors and its past, and learn from their experiences. A society that does not protect its past may lose its national identity over time. Individuals who grasp its historicity are concerned about the loss of oral and written cultural values and fulfill their duty to pass it on to future generations. Kutadgu Bilig is the most comprehensive work that reflects the language and culture of the Karakhanid period. Kutadgu Bilig, one of the most distinguished works of the Turkish language and culture world, has been the subject of numerous studies both in this branch of science and in other fields. Studies on Kutadgu Bilig are very important in terms of revealing the structure, system and power of the Turkish Language. Kutadgu Bilig is an important source for knowledge of Turkishness with its information and language features. Turkish is one of the richest languages in the world in terms of meaning. This richness also shows itself in the question sentences. When the interrogative sentences are examined in detail, they have very different meanings beyond their interrogative meanings. Kutadgu Bilig also has a very rich narrative in terms of meaning. Analyzing the interrogative sentences in Kutadgu Bilig will contribute to revealing this deep expression and to better understand the work. Our aim in our master's study is to identify the question sentences in Kutadgu Bilig and to classify them in terms of structure and function and examine them in detail. The text and translation part of Reşit Rahmeti Arat's book named Kutadgu Bilig were scanned with the method of reading from beginning to end and the sentences accepted as questions were determined one by one. Identified question sentences are given together with their couplet numbers and their translated form into Turkey Turkish. Identified question sentences were discussed in detail in terms of structural and functional aspects.
