Abstract (EN)

This doctoral dissertation focuses on the nomadic Turks living on the slopes of Mount Aktaş in North Macedonia, namely the Kızılalma-Karaman Yörüks. The ethnography of the people/yörüks living in the region since the late 14th century, during the Ottoman Turkish era, has been examined. This is the first time that a study has systematically and scientifically addressed the region and its people/yörüks in such a comprehensive and detailed manner. In this respect, it is a pioneering and fundamental work. It will serve as a fundamental resource and reference work for subsequent scientific research. Furthermore, the study is based entirely on field research conducted in the region from beginning to end. The research was conducted between 1998 and 2025, particularly after 2007, in the slopes of Mount Aktaş in North Macedonia. Therefore, this study is a very arduous one, requiring long and laborious work, much effort, and dedication. It has emerged over the years (27 years) through patient, careful and meticulous field research. Key Words: North Macedonia, Aktash Mountasin, Kızılalma-Karaman Yörüks, World of The Yörüks, Ethnografia.
