Abstract (EN)

New power plants, in Turkey and all over the world, with the highest technologies are being built to compensate the increasing need for the energy. When we think about the environmental impacts, community health care, global warming and the future of the world, we could easily see that renewable and clean energy sources are the only way to fulfill the above concerns. Most of the countries in the world are also encouraging the use of renewable energy sources and making studies to increase the portion of renewable energy production in the total production rates. Geothermal energy is also one of the most important renewable energy sources to generate electricity such as wind, hydroelectric, sun and biomass. The usage of the geothermal energy resources reduce the carbon emissions and also helps the country to deal with the foreign-source dependency and increases the national capital. In this study, it is started with the identifying geothermal and then given some information about the use of Turkey' s geothermal energy resources, geothermal fields and the world' s leading geothermal energy resources usage. Development of Denizli-Kızıldere field, which is one the highest temperature fields in Turkey, is referred in this study and some information is given about the Turkey' s first geothermal power plants which is also located in Kızıldere geothermal field with a gross power of 20,4 MWe. Kızıldere Geothermal Power Plant and "Geothermal Resource Research License" have been bought by Zorlu Energy Group in 2008. After this acquisition, lots of development studies have been realized by Zorlu. The main purpose of this study is to realise the energy and exergy analysis of Kızıldere-II Geothermal Power Plant which is taken into commercial operation in Oct. 2013 as a result of feasibility studies. Kızıldere-II Geothermal Power Plant has the nominal gross power of 80 MWe. In this study, flow properties, equipments and power plant's technology are identified for the Kızıldere-II Geothermal Power Plant. All calculations including the energy and exegy analysis of Kızıldere-II Geothermal Power Plant have been done by using EES (Engineering Equation Solver) software.
