Abstract (EN)

Stephanitis pyri is one of the most important species in the Tingidae family with agricultural economic importance. Many natural enemies of this pest have been reported in the literature. However, there is almost no research on the effectiveness of these natural enemies. This study investigated some biological relationships between S. pyri and Orius laevigatus. The study was carried out in the laboratory and insect-rearing rooms with 26±1ºC temperature, 60-70% humidity, and 16:8 hours of lighting conditions. Experiments were set up as choice tests and no-choice tests. The study determined adult longevity and prey consumption of adult female and male individuals of O. laevigatus fed with Pear lace bug. In no-choice tests, female O. laevigatus had the longest average longevity as13,30±1,14 days, reached as a result of feeding with the Pear lace bug of the II.nymph stage. The longest average longevity was determined for males and an average of 12,40±1,58 days, by feeding with III.nymphal stage. In choice tests, the average longevity was determined as 15,55±1,69 days for females and 9,63±1,03 days for males. In no-choice tests, in terms of prey consumption during the longevity of O. laevigatus, Pear lace bug's at the highest numbers in the I.nymph period (females:242, males:198,9 units) and at lowest numbers in the adult period (females:5, males:2,3 units) have been found for feeding performs. In choice tests, it was determined that the predator female consumed an average of 307,7 and the male 158,7 units of prey during her longevity. The research indicated that the adult stages of O. laevigatus have a predatory effect on the Pear lace bug. Also, it can be said that prey consumption was better as according to studies on predators of Tingidae species.
