Ladik (Samsun) dialect

Dialectology, which has an important place in linguistics, started in our country since the 1940s and has not been fully completed. Dialect features have been gradually disappearing due to the fact that written and visual communication tools have reached the farthest corners and the literacy rate has increased recently. In this context, Anatolian dialects should be compiled as soon as possible and their linguistic features should be examined. With the completion of these studies, besides determining the historical development, change, change directions and spreading areas of our language, many other factors such as socio-culture, national and ethnic can be evaluated. One of the regions that will contribute to these evaluations and waiting to be compiled from the dialectical research fields is the dialect of Ladik district of Samsun province. Ladik, which has not been extensively studied in terms of linguistic data and lexical context, was chosen as a thesis field to reveal these data. Ladik district is in the 6th sub-group of the Western Dialect Group from the Turkey Turkish Dialects Group and has a total of sixty-seven neighborhoods. The data in this study were collected by taking audio recordings of people with dialect characteristics in fifty-two neighborhoods. The records obtained were transcribed and textualized based on the transcription symbols created by the suggestion of Ahmet Bican Ercilasun and adopted by the Turkish Language Association. The study consists of four chapters. In the first (introduction) chapter, the subject and purpose of the thesis, the material and method, the geographical location of the Ladik region, its climate, vegetation, population and settlement, educational status, economic structure, the source and importance of the name of Ladik, traditions and customs and information about the previous dialectical researches about the region are given. In the second chapter, phonetic and morphologic properties are examined and supported with examples. In the discussion and conclusion, phonetic and morphologic properties of the Ladik dialect are mentioned. In the third chapter, the compiled fifty-six text is written with transcription symbols. In the last chapter, the resources used for the dictionary and thesis are included.
