A qualitative study on factors proceeding leaders to servant leadership behavior

After the industrial revolution the change of environmental conditions, the resulting solid competition brought about concepts such as efficiency, effectiveness, performance, motivation, etc. From the first quarter of the 20th century view that people should be examined as being a psychological being accepted in academic areas. Necessity of not to be ignored of sensuality and love which is the most impor-tant bracket for human has reflected to organizational structures and guidance of human factor which differ from each other came to the agenda. For this guidance many concepts have been developed from business models to leadership structures. The concept of servant leadership in the 1970s Robert Greeleaf's imparted in the lite-rature is emerging as a result of these efforts. This study dealt with the servant leadership, after rewiev of the literature on leadership and servant leadership, a qualitative research has been conducted in order to determine the relevant factors with 5 managers in the province of Gaziantep and their servant leadeship behaviours. Outcome of the research the factors that lead ma-nagers to exhibit the behavior of servant leadership have been identified as values, intrinsic motivation, experience, mentor influence, self-actualization, altruism, un-requited love, awareness, desire to positively affect the lives of others and the desire to be helpful to others.
