Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence levels and subjective well-being with virtual game addiction in high school students. In this study, The Game Addiction Scale For Teenagers (Short Form), Teenager Subjective Well-Being Scale, and BarOn Emotional İntelligence Inventory-Youth Version (Short Form) were implemented.. The participants of the study consisted of high school students in Kütahya province in Turkey during the 2022-2023 academic year. The participants of the current research were specified based on attainability and voluntary participation criteria. The data were obtained from Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Anatolian High School, Science High School. The high schools were identified by using simple random sampling method. The study group were consisted of 745 students, with 368 female students and 377 male students, selected from different grade levels. SPSS 22 was used for the analysis of the data. Independent t-tests and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were applied for comparisons, as the obtained data have a normal distribution. Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to examine the relationship between the variables. According to the findings of the a negative relationship between emotional intelligence levels and levels of virtual game addiction among high school students and a low-level negative relationship between levels of virtual game addiction and subjective well-being likewise a low-level positive relationship between subjective well-being and emotional intelligence levels were found.
