Investigation of ruminaton levels of high school students according to parental attitudes and genders

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate whether the level of rumination of high school students varies significantly according to the parenting styles of their parents. The research was conducted with the participation of 604 volunteer students, 336 of whom were female and 268 were male, attending five different types of high schools in the Osmaniye province of Turkey. In order to determine the parenting styles of the participants, the "Parenting Styles Scale" was used, while the "Ruminative Responses Scale Short Form" was used to determine the students' level of rumination. Additionally, a "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher was used to determine the demographic characteristics of the students. IBM SPSS 26 was used for data analysis, and Independent Samples t-Test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were employed for the analysis. According to the findings obtained in the study, it was observede that the rumination level of female students differede significantly according to gender, the ruminationlevel of female students differed significantly according to the attitudes of their parents, the level ol male students did not differ significantly according to the attitudes of their parents and the rumination level of the students differed significanly according to the type of parental attitude.
