Abstract (EN)
In the reviewed Turkish literature, it was observed that attitudes towards geometry and digital burnout were frequently subjected to different studies, but the relationship between digital burnout perception and attitudes towards geometry within the scope of distance education was not examined. This situation contributed to the determination of the research topic. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between high school students' perception of digital burnout and their attitudes towards geometry in the light of various demographic information. For this purpose, the study was conducted with 406 high school students enrolled in a private secondary education institution in Istanbul in the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. In the study, which was carried out within the scope of the relational survey model, a form with a total number of 81 questions created with the "Demographic Information Form", "Digital Burnout Scale (DBS)" and "Geometry Attitude Scale (GAS)" was used as a data collection tool. As a result of the research, a low level negative correlation was found between GYTÖ and DTÖ. It was found that female students had higher digital burnout perception than male students, tenth grade students had higher mental fatigue than twelfth grade students, science high school students had higher mean scores than Anatolian high school students, science department students had higher mean scores than TM department students in attitudes towards geometry, mother's educational status did not have an effect on DDTS and DTÖ, but students whose fathers were university and graduate graduates had higher mean scores in all sub-dimensions and in the general dimension, except for self-efficacy and enjoyment of geometry sub-dimension of DDTS. In addition to revealing distance education, digital burnout perception and attitudes towards geometry, the study is expected to contribute to the Turkish literature and shed light on future research. In future research, it is suggested that the necessary studies should be conducted to show a positive predictive effect of distance education on attitudes towards geometry without creating digital burnout perception.
