Abstract (EN)
In this study, the problem solving abilities of high school students were analysed based on some variables. Parent's attitudes took at place in these variables. Differentiation on problem solving abilities of students were analysed, depending on their perception; if their parents were "democratic" or "outhoritativer". Other variables consists of school type, class level, born orden of student number of brother and sister and sexuality. The study covers students who are educated at 9'* and 10'* classes of Anatolion and Genral Hihg Schools in Ankara Provice in 2002-2003 education year. The sampling group consists of three anatolion and three General High Schools. 218 Male, 196 female from 9'* and 10'* classes of anatolion high school and 226 male, 196 female from 9* and 10'* classes of general high school, mainly form the sampling group and in general totaly 836 students were feached. Problem Solving inventory and Parent's Attitude Scale were using as measurement devices in research, information about discrete variables were obtianed from Personal Information Forms. Data were analysed by SPSS 11,0 for windows version softwere for independent groups analysis of data were achieved significant. Test of significanse is made subject of assessment according to p<.05. Researches emphasize that, problem solving abilities were changed according to father's attitude, but stayed constant with mother's attitude. Perception of mother as "democratic" or "outhoritative" had ne affect on problem solving ability. But ability of students, who perceived their father as "democratic" had higher significant level than students, who perceived their fathers as "outhoritative". Problem solvingIV ability was enhancedsignificatly when both mother and father being perceived as "democratic" or "outhoritative". In addition, "democratic" attitudes of bath father and mother had more signifantly affect the ability of students than parents who were being perceived as "outhoritative". The problem solving ability of students educated i in Anatolian High Schools, differeutiateat significant amounts. In addition in this, study it was found that problem solving ability of female students were more: significant than male students. In other words, sexuality is an affective parameter in : problem solving ability. In research with respect to demograghic variables ( numbed of brother and sister, class level, born order ), no significant differentiiation has to be; found in problem solving ability.
