The use of outsourcing in logistics activities: A study on firms in Adana

Logistics activities is a really important subject for firms because these activities affect competitiveness of firms directly. All firms has to pay attention for not only production and marketing activities but also logistics. The success of logistics activities relate to technology that contributes operating performances and solutions that produce customer satisfaction. The research carried out indicates that the enterprises would like to benefit from third party logistics activities due to the reasons such as reducing the costs, focusing on the main activities , increasing the flexibility, reducing the capital expenses for logistics activities, reporting the logistics activities in a more appropriate way, providing the use of information technologies, increasing quality, making connections with the foreign markets and lowering the need for higher level information and ability. In this case, there is an emprical study on some firms in Adana to evaluate outsourcing in logistics activities. These firms are questioned by a survey. This survey analyzes firms and their descriptive characteristics and brings out their outsourcing preferences. Keywords: Logistics, outsourcing, third party logistics
