Abstract (EN)
Turkey is an earthquake country and many earthquakes have occurred in the past years that have caused devastating and loss of life. The main reason for the loss of life and property caused by these earthquakes is that the earthquake performance of our buildings is insufficient. For this reason, it is necessary to examine our building stocks in terms of earthquakes and strengthen them if deemed appropriate. Educational structures, which make up the majority of the building stock of our country, are also of great importance in terms of earthquakes. Since educational structures are considered as a warehouse, shelter or shelter structure after a disaster, they should be structures that can be used safely during and after a disaster. In this study, first of all, brief information was given about the type of structures used by the Ministry of National Education in the past years, and then the three types of school projects used most often were examined. The performances of the examined type of projects were analyzed using the Sta4CAD program. By applying the minimum rules of the regulation in force during the construction years, the suitability of the building performances according to "TBDY, 2018" was examined. The TYPE-C project was analyzed again using the SAP2000 program and the results were compared with the Sta4CAD program. 3 Tips belonging to the Ministry of National Education carrier elements and dimensions, analysis parameters and results for the building are presented. Assuming the minimum rules of the 1997 Earthquake Regulation are applied, Table 2.1 shows that TYPE-A projects comply with TBDY, 2018 rules, while TYPE-B and TYPE-C projects do not. The reasons for the inadequate performance of TYPE-B and TYPE-C buildings can be attributed to factors such as insufficient reinforced concrete curtain walls in the X and Y directions, inadequate existing column and beam dimensions, insufficient reinforcement amounts in the elements, and the absence of tightening zones in the columns and beams.
