Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the addiction profile and general self-efficacy of patients receiving substance use disorder treatment. The data of this descriptive and correlation study were collected between December 2020 and May 2021. The population of the study consisted of patients receiving outpatient treatment at İzmir Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Training and Research Hospital Alcohol Substance Research Treatment Center. The study was completed with 170 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Personal Data Form, General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) and Addiction Profile Index Scale (BAPI) were used to collect data. In the statistical analysis of the data; number, percentage, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Post Hoc tests and Spearman Correlation test were used. According to the study findings, it was determined that 86,5% of the patients were male, the average age of starting the substance was 17.4 years, and the majority of the patients started using substance use with 41,8% alcohol and 42,4% cannabis use. The average score of BAPİ total/craving is 11,56 ± 4,06.. The highest score in BAPI sub-dimensions is in the sub-dimension of the effect of substance use on one's life. It was determined that the differences between the BAPI scores of the patients included in the study and the variables of alcohol/substance initiation environment were significant. GSE average score is 59.4±11.9. It was determined that the GSE scores were lower in patients who started using drugs for pleasure, those who are currently employed, and those who were forced into treatment. It was determined that there was a weak inverse relationship between BAPI score and GSE scores (r = - 0,278). When the results were examined, it was determined that there was a statistically significant relationship between experiencing legal problems due to substance use, being forced into treatment, the expectation from treatment to improve psychological problems, previous psychiatric psychological treatment, income status and GSE score. As a result, it can be said that the total average of the addiction profile of the patients is at a low level of addiction severity and that a decrease in self-efficacy belief increases the severity of addiction. Therefore, addiction severity and self-efficacy beliefs are important factors that need to be addressed and studied in the substance use disorder treatment process.
