An evaluation on the employment of Syrian immigrants in Malatya province

Migration is the process where a portion of the population living in a certain settlement area leaves their current place of residence for various reasons and moves to another place or moves relatively permanently. Turkey has been the most preferred country by Syrian refugees. Due to the influx of Syrians, Turkey has become the 'country hosting the most refugees in the world'. Since April 2011, 3,761,267 Syrians have settled in Turkey. Although Syrian refugees initially settled in refugee camps in provinces such as Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Hatay and Kilis, which are close to the Turkey-Syria border, they have rapidly begun to move to the rest of Turkey. Today, Syrians have settled in almost every city in Turkey, including Malatya. In this study, a study will be conducted on the employment and adaptation problems of Syrian immigrants who migrated to Malatya. The universe of the study consists of Syrian immigrants living in Malatya. The general screening model will be used in the study. The aim of this study is to reach approximately 200 Syrian immigrants. In this study, the field research method will be applied, and in the quantitative data collection phase, the survey technique will be used depending on the survey research. First of all, in addition to the literature review on migration, adaptation and future expectations, a question pool was created in line with the objectives of the research by examining the previous studies conducted in the field. The survey questions were divided into three main groups: The first part will measure the socio-demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the participants, the second part will measure the adaptation problems and the third part will measure the employment and participation in work and the tendency to start a business. The questionnaire consists of a total of 45 questions. During the research, the sample group will be reached by frequently visiting the civil society organizations, workplaces where Syrian immigrants work and the neighborhoods where they live densely. It is important to process and solve the data obtained during the research process and to make the data to be obtained meaningful. The data obtained from the research will be transferred to the SPSS (Statistical Program for Social Sciences) 20 package program, processed and evaluated.
