Abstract (EN)
It is tried to explain that Assyrians, who spread through out the world and are one of the very old community of Mesopotamia, with stood and protected their culture and region despite all the hardship. Besides, it is also aimed to talk about Mardin province Midyat region where Assyrians population is very high and wines which are one of their significant tradition. It is analysed in detail how Assyrian wine which is the beverage of ritual and special occasions, the significance of wine in their culture, producing process, marketing, the income of wine for the families, the future of wine, development of wine for the province and region, the problems the wine producers faced in the process of producing and their expectaions from government are also searched. As a result of observations and evaluations in 2011-2014 period when the years field study is was carried out, it was concluded that the producing of wine increased, the amount of police raid in 2011 decreased, but the problems still existed such as uneasiness due to illegal producing, there was no progress in vine yards dueto lack of legal acts, local people produced wine by buying grape near by cities. On the other hand it was also concluded that if wine producing was improved, the in come of familes would increase, tourism would improve, the value of local production would also increase, and viticulture would develop.
