Analysis of safety & health perceptions of marina users: The case of Marmaris

Marinas have a significant function in the sector by providing an existential support to the mobile elements of marine tourism such as yachts, cruise and pleasure boats in terms of suppliers and logistics in coastal and marine tourism. Carrying out this function in two basic contexts, marinas fulfill the requirements of the tourism sector, while at the same time fulfilling maritime affairs and transactions due to the nature of themselves. The fact that the maritime industry is open to dangers to the environment and people and that these dangers are higher in quantity than many other sectors means that marinas where tourism and maritime meet also have the same risk factors. These risk factors can be summarized as safety & health, environmental pollution and security risks. Various rules, standards and practices have been developed in marinas to minimize these hazards in the determined dimensions. The subject of this research is the safety & health perceptions of marina users in Marmaris. For this reason, 387 data collection forms were analyzed in the SPSS program. Descriptive statistics were determined in the SPSS program, and explanatory factor analysis was applied to determine the dimensions. In order to analyze the significance, independent sample t-test was and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the dimensions of the safety & health perceptions of the marina users and the dimensions in the literature were different. From T-Test It has also been determined that male marina users and female marina users perceive the reality differently except in the dimension of marine personnel attitude through the safety. Private boats and commercial boats also perceive the reality of Safety & Health differently in all dimensions. In addition, the younger generation and the older generation perceive reality differently as per ANOVA.
