Material management/ handling: Primary teachers' awareness of effective use of supporting elt materials designed for young learners

This study mainly focuses on teachers? awareness of effectively using supporting English language teaching materials designed for young language learners. The purpose of this study is to investigate primarily whether the language teachers use supporting ELT materials or not. Depending on this investigation, the researcher tries to make out if the teachers use the materials effectively with the help of the analysis of the questionnaire and the interview held with English language teachers? on effective usage of supporting ELT materials in the language classrooms. The results show that although the majority of the teachers use supporting language teaching materials, a considerable amount still do not use materials in their classes. Even if the teachers using the supporting materials know the importance and neccesity of the materials, the domination of the coursebook prepared according to the curriculum which is prepared by the Ministry of Education continues. Fifty-two English language teachers teaching in primary schools constitute the participants of the research.Keywords: Supporting materials, aids, ELT, YL
