Abstract (EN)
Two poets of modern Turkish literature, Ahmet Haşim and Yahya Kemal Beyatlı, opened their eyes to the world towards the end of the 19th century; one of them came from the East where the light rises and the other from the West, the voice of change and freedom, and they made Istanbul the capital of modern times their homeland. These two names, who came by carrying the wide horizon of their childhood from their hometown, conveyed what life made them feel, their thoughts, in short, their experiences, to the world of literature. The modernization movements of the Ottoman Empire to prevent the defeats of the "Disintegration Period" were not sufficient, and the revolts against the authority could not prevent the dissolution of the state. The 19th and 20th centuries, when the world was dragged into chaos, were the long years of war and the difficult years of states struggling for independence and power. Ahmet Haşim and Yahya Kemal Beyatlı are the artists of this violent war years full of poverty. On the one hand, they struggled to overcome the difficulties of the process they lived through, like their contemporaries, on the other hand, they wanted to carry Turkish poetry to contemporary norms by fighting for art, and did what is necessary. They have been accepted as the two founding poets of Modern Turkish poetry on the level they have reached with their devoted works. While many litterateurs made efforts for the development of Turkish literature at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, it is an important issue to understand why these two names were able to construct modernity, under which conditions they were able to achieve this success, and how they could influence their contemporaries and the next generation with their schools. There is a time difference of more than a hundred years between this work and Ahmet Haşim and Yahya Kemal Beyatlı according to their birth dates. The reason for choosing letters, interviews and postcards in this study is because they are both special, voluntary expressions made to another person. In this way, it was possible to access both their written and verbal expressions. Since the expressions in the documents contain their own feelings and thoughts, they are far from subjective comments of others. Since all the letters, interviews and postcards studied were arranged in chronological order, it was possible to observe the changes in the lives of these two names in various dimensions. Using the letters, interviews and postcards of Ahmet Haşim and Yahya Kemal Beyatlı, a significant part of their biographical features were reached with this study, and it was tried to understand how they construct modern Turkish literature with their life characteristics, personalities, feelings and opinions.
