Abstract (EN)

Melasma is an acquired disorder of symetrical hyperpigmentation appearing as light brown to dark, macul and patch on the face, especially the forehead, malar areas, and chin. Melasma as in other dermatologic disorders which have visible symptoms influence the quality of patients. The Sleep is an important part of all people' psychologic and physical needs, and quality of sleep is an important function which influence the quality of life of the people. The studies on melasma which are about the quality of life and sleep are limited. In this study, we aim to assest both the relationship between severity of melasma and sleep quality, and the severity of melasma between life quality of melasma on these patients.. Seventy patients who are diagnosed with melasma were taken to this study. Such datas as the function of melasma and age-education statues of these patients were prepared, and these datas were recorded in data forms. The severity of this disease of these patients was calculated and recorded with Melasma Areas and Severity Index (MASI). Lesions of these patients were classified with wood lamp. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Melasma Life Quality Measurement were applied to the patients, and calculated studies were recorded. As comparing life quality and sleep quality with the severity of melasma disease on these patients, any significant statistical difference could not found(p=0.435, p=0.229). A weak correlation between education statues of these patients and MYKO was determined(p=0.005, r=0.333) As a result, it can be said that the severity of melasma does not influence life quality and sleep quality Key Words: Melasma, Sleep quality, Life quality, MASI
