Abstract (EN)

Steam sterilizers, used in various fields such as medical applications and the food industry, play a critical role in protecting human life by eliminating microorganisms. With advancements in technology, significant developments have also occurred in steam sterilizers. Different companies are developing models with superior features to meet the changing demands of users. In this context, selecting an appropriate steam sterilizer is crucial. To make this selection, it is necessary to evaluate different models based on common criteria, which can complicate the selection process. The use of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods facilitates this complex selection process by providing a systematic and manageable structure. In this study, seven different large capacity steam sterilizer models were evaluated using seven criteria. When selecting alternatives to steam sterilizers, large-capacity steam sterilizer models with the same purpose and similar features were chosen. During the determination of common criteria, design criteria were taken into account in line with customer expectations. The importance weights of the evaluation criteria were determined using the Method Based on the Removal Effects of Criteria (MEREC). The steam sterilizers, forming the alternatives, were evaluated using the Combined Compromise Solution (CoCoSo) method. By integrating the MEREC-CoCoSo methods, the performance of each steam sterilizer alternative was objectively compared based on the specified common criteria, and the best steam sterilizer alternative was selected. Additionally, the proposed integration introduces a new approach to the literature for steam sterilizer selection. This innovative approach makes the decision-making process faster, easier, and more objective. Thus, a more effective method has been developed for the selection process, prioritizing human health and safety. The findings of this study can be considered in sterilization processes across different sectors and can provide a solution for sterilizer selections performed for various purposes.
