Abstract (EN)

In this study, the use of waste marble as aggregate in concrete interlocking paving stones was examined. Natural aggregate with a diameter not exceeding 8 mm and waste marble pieces with a diameter not exceeding 5 mm were used as aggregate in concrete mixtures. The Highways Technical Specification was used during the experiments. A total of 60 concrete paving stones in five different mixing ratios (20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%) and an additional 20 cube samples with a side of 10 cm were prepared. Half of the samples were kept in salt water and the other half in normal water for 28 days to allow them to set. Water absorption rate determination test, abrasion resistance test, and tensile strength test in cutting were applied to concrete paving stone samples. Compressive strength tests were performed on cube samples. It was observed that the water absorption rate determination test and abrasion resistance test data remained within the limits mentioned in the specification and the compressive strength easily met the standards. When the results of the splitting tensile strength test were examined, it was seen that the samples containing 20%, 40% and 60% marble aggregate had sufficient strength; In addition, it was observed that the strength of the waste marble aggregate samples prepared at 80% and 100% was insufficient. As a result, it has been determined that waste marble can be used as aggregate in concrete paving stones at a rate of up to 60%.
