A study of perceiving school culture levels of teachers who work in career high schools based on several variablesIn this research, perceiving school culture levels of teachers who work in career high schools are examined based on several variables, such as benefiting from school revolving funds, sex, department/branch, and seniority.When it was studied the teachers perceiving of school cultures and the connections among the kinds of variables, the measure device which was proved the validity and reliability in various researches, was used.In this research, the results were based on the answers of 117 teachers who work at high schools of Istanbul in 2007-2008 education term.At the end of the research which was studied on the teachers perceiving school culture levels with kinds of variables who work in career high schools, had been reached the results bath our teachers put forward and inform about the perceiving of school culture.It was found that 15.4% of our teachers joined the research got their share from school revolving funds, while 84.6% of them did not. 40.2% of our teachers were woman, while 59.8% of our teachers were men. There were teachers almost in all seniority level in the pattern.The biggest group of these was formed with 32.5% from the teachers who had 6-10 years seniority. The smallest group of these was formed with the teachers who had 16-20 years seniority with 8.5%. It was found that the number of teachers were equal with the consideration of their branches/departments.It was found that the teachers thought their schools had basic and permanent history which they are proud of, and they had enough information about their history. The managers of the schools helped the teachers to understand the school history.It was found that with the direction of schools values and beliefs, the teachers thought that they saw themselves to be clamped together, had a value, worked in a school with confidence in their school and added to the decisions in school and created a sweet rivalry atmosphere.According to the general results of the stories about school, it was found that the teachers thought the stories are generally positive in school, and they were transferred to the families and personal. These stories motivated both the staff and the students resulting the team work and these stories contributed to understand school culture and adaptation.The general results of relating to opinions in the traditions, ceremonies to the school culture, it was found that teachers saw their school for away traditional structure little, participation actively to the ceremony and celebration, the meetings were like a traditions were accepted.To the general results of the relating opinions of the school heros, the teachers expressed that there were school heros who hardened the school cultures main valves, the individuals had onattemptive spirit, individuals would take a risk for becoming fact the organization culture, the personnel dedicated themselves to their occupations, the director and the teachers had wholeness between the moral valves and behaviours, the directors seemed as a symbol director one each, the managers were cultural leaders, the honesty was adapted as a principle between the director and teachers relations, and the directors and teachers who followed the technology closely.As a conclusion, the level of perceiving school culture of the teachers does not change meaningfully based on branch/department, sex, seniority and benefiting from the school revolving funds.Keywords: school culture / career high school
