Multidimensional investigation of the school culture in the trade schools (Ümraniye county sample)

The fast growing technological improvements in the world cause the professional andtechnical education to gain higher importance. The importance of the trade schoolwhich aimed to educate qualified labor is also increasing in parallel. `Organizationalculture? is an important factor on increasing the effect of the trade schools. Apowerful and positive `school culture? will be the driving force for trade schools toreach their aims.The aim of this thesis is to investigate the school culture perception of the instructorsand also to exhibit the relation between school culture perception of the instructorsand some demographic variables (sexuality, age, seniority, marital status, etc?) inthe trade schools of Umraniye County in Istanbul.Thesis study consists of four parts. The 1st part contains problem, aim, importance,conjecture chapters, the 2nd part contains literature related with the professional andtechnical education, organizational culture and school culture, 3rd part containsresearch model, universe-sampling, data processing tools, 4th part contains results anddiscussion chapters.In this study the scanning model was used. The `organizational culture? scale whichimproved by Kara et al. (2006) was applied to ten of eleven trade schools located inÜmraniye County in Istanbul. 269 instructors participated in the `organizationalculture? survey.The findings were calculated with statistical methods by SPSS software.As a result of this research:The organizational culture scale do not exhibit any significant difference with respectto power, role, success, support sub scale points; sexuality variable, having child, age,educational level, branch and professional seniority.The organizational culture scale exhibits significant difference with respect to power,role, success, support sub scale points; marital status of the instructors (in instructors?favor), tenure (in laboring favor working for 5-10 years and 11-15 years), incomelevel (in one?s favor who perceived themselves as lower and upper income level),and school type variables (in trade schools? favor).Keywords:Organizational CultureSchool CultureProfessional Technical EducationTrade Schools
