Determination of teachers opinions about effectiveness of the MEGEP project that is being applied to industry professional, anatolian vocational and technical high schools that give technical vocational education

Today, when it comes to determine the development level of a country; technology in use and human resources using and developing that technology, are taken as criteria. Developed countries are preparing vocational programs to train manpower and to implement this technology. If any lack of skilled manpower occurs, they choose to transfer vocationally well educated people from other countries. In order to develop a stable industry and to create sustainable competitiveness, it is a must to establish well designed-programmed vocational education and schools. Because education system has a very important role to gain qualified manpower in the countries targeting industrial development and technological competitiveness. Special attention given to vocational technical education institutions, will provide not only qualified workers but also socially strong and well-employed individuals ensuring civil society.In this study, the concept of vocational technical education, the importance of vocational education, vocational training models, vocational education in our country and in the world, the need for vocational and technical education are examined, and it is aimed to determine teachers opinions about the effectiveness of MEGEP Project. The relation between education and employment in business (whose voluntary contributions and activities are rapidly increasing with MEGEP Project) has also been investigated and searched for the answers to the questions such as in what extent employment issue has solved, economic and social benefits have been realized. In addition, it has been tried to determine contributions and benefits of the modular training system simultaneously established with MEGEP.As a result of a literature survey, above-mentioned questions were created and implemented to teachers and administrators. Scope of the survey covers high schools specified in the attached table and providing vocational education in Istanbul.SPSS program used to obtain statistical data of the survey revealed, findings and conclusions are stated in the relevant section and interpreted.Key Words: Vocational Education, Vocational High Schools, MEGEP, Modular Training.
